Abelardo Maciel ficou conhecido em Aracati por seu envolvimento com o esporte, seja no Futsal ou no Futebol. Nos últimos seis anos foi dirigente da equipe Aracatiense de Futsal, o “Aracati Futsal”, e em 2010 esteve como diretor do Aracati Esporte Clube, clube de futebol que disputou a a segundona cearense. Abelardo era um grande amigo dos EMBALADOS.
